World of Appearances

Yellow-orange above, pale vessel-like forms in pink and white in the middle, a strong orange-red block at the right. At the lower left printed matter is pasted in and half painted over in black: a column of newspaper text and beneath it a pink-and-red chequered card printed DEAR HEARTBEAT. The real thing is painted out and the invented thing is left standing — which is probably what the title means.
