A way into abstract painting: mixing colour, placing fields, deciding edges. And the hardest exercise of the weekend — stopping in time.
Two days with nothing to copy. We start with a few colours and work in fields rather than outlines, until a painting holds without a subject.
No previous experience is needed. Abstraction does not begin with drawing.
Some experience · 3 days
Mixed media with modelling paste: apply, let dry, scrape back, work over. In the end the surface carries the painting.
Three days on a single painting. We build layers, take them away again, and work into the surface while it is still wet.
Worth doing if you have painted before and want to know why some surfaces hold and others stay flat.

Composition when there is nothing to copy: format, weight, balance. Why a painting tips over, and what holds it.
A day on composition itself — on your own work, on other people's, and on a few quick sketches.
Do bring two or three of your own paintings, unfinished ones included. Especially unfinished ones.
The courses take place at the Kunstwerkstatt in Bad Feilnbach-Au, welcoming enquiries from the Rosenheim, Chiemsee and Tegernsee region. Choose the right starting point: first steps with colour and surface, work with texture and palette knives, or the composition of your own paintings. Please ask about the teaching language when enquiring.
Colour and Surface is the starting point without previous experience: you work with colours and areas of colour to create an abstract painting. Texture and Palette Knife is intended for people with painting experience. Composition Without a Motif welcomes different experience levels. Each course states its requirements.

Each course lists its duration and total price, alongside its dates and VAT note. Materials are included only when this is explicitly stated. Please check in advance which paints, tools or canvases you should bring.
