The Auracher Hof exhibition

In 2016 Marianne took part in the art exhibition at Auracher Hof in Bayrischzell, from 24 July to 21 August. The archive photograph shows four women with works in the exhibition room.

Other entries document Marianne’s participation in Bayrischzell in 2014, 2021 and 2022. All of these dates have passed; the studio for current inquiries is in Bad Feilnbach-Au.

Marianne Igel / The paintings

From the catalogue

The two ‘Aus der Bergwelt’ works were made in 2018. They introduce Marianne’s painting; their presence at the exhibitions above is not documented.

  • An abstract mountain landscape in landscape format: dark black-brown masses form a ridge across the picture beneath a pale cream sky, the surface laid on coarse and sandy, with dark fields below

    From the Mountains 1

    80 × 60 cm, 2018

The first of two pictures she numbered herself. The ridge draws across the picture, black-brown and trowelled so coarsely that the paint sits on it like scree and old snow; above it stands an empty cream-white sky. Her own sale photograph of this canvas survives with the sticker still on it — which is where its size and price come from.

  • An abstract mountain landscape in landscape format: two peaks in cream, ochre and charcoal rise against a white sky, the paint cracked and heavily textured, with a black band along the lower edge

    From the Mountains 2

    80 × 60 cm, 2018

Two peaks rise against a white sky, the paint cracked and broken open like a rock face, with thin dark lines following the ridges. A black band closes the picture along the bottom, and pale flecks sit in the flanks like the last of the snow. The counterpart to 1, and the same size.
